Hey RI, what do you mean by "Schadenfreude might be able to help you there...."?

Hmm, how about you give me the source files for one of your tunes, Dok V., and I'll work on a remix from that?

I'd love to remix AAK, to be honest.

How many of you have collaborated on original material as opposed to doing remixes? I was just ondering as it's looking like so far I'll be the only one doing that.

Sure, that would be great Schadenfreude. I'll get the source files to you today.

the remix RI did of my track is more like a collaboration as all the original track is still there, he's added extra layers at the top end and opened the track up as everything was going on in the bass and lower mids before. So the "remix" is 50% his and 50% mine. It's like he added the anchovies and onions to my cheesy pizza.
He, as he put it... "mixed it better" too ;)

My idea of a remix is to completely change the whole sound and feel of the source track, at least, that's what I do with a remix - I make the track mine. RI liked the original and chose to add to it instead, and it's worked a treat.

In that sense I'd call it a collaboration rather than a remix. It's one of those "versus" tracks

Ghouldetail described it well - it isn't easy to remix an excellent track. This one lend itself to additions because it had a lot of frequency open. So indeed, it happened to end up as a collaboration rather than a remix - which I like anyhow better. I am not that great in remixing I think, I am better in enhancing ideas and emphasizing.

Dok V : Starting work on the remix, although I'm not too good of a remixer. I do think that my usual noise-style shit won't work too well, so I'll be messing around a bit, experimenting with how I'll do the remix. If I can get it right, I'll probably be able to finish it tomorrow or the day after, if not, well... hard to tell, actually. I do sense it'd work as a videogamecore-style remix, maybe with some of my noise/industrial elements?

if anyone's interested, the Ghoul Detail vs Random Insults track Death Train is up as streaming audio on my soundclick page

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/6/ghould...

might be interesting to compare it with the track "Damaged" that RI built it up on.
Big thanks to RI for this one :D

Sounds interesting. Whatever you think would make a good remix will be fine, I'm sure.

Definitely looking forward to seeing how it comes out!

Finished the remix, although I'm not sure how well it'll sit with the "industrial" crowd, as it's more of me returning to my roots, sort of a dhc/breakcore thing, sounds very different from the original, I like it lots. But, hey, what'd you expect from the guy that made it, eh?

Let me know how you like it, it was fun making this. Had some trouble with some of the synths though, the files wouldn't loop 100% properly, this is evident during the song's intro.

I listened to the thing and is quite good. I would just replace the synths in the beginning with a own soft synth so that the troubles with the wav overlap disappears. You could also make the synth a bit stronger in the bass that way. Kind off funny actually that mix.

That remix is great! I really like your take on the song. Ian (the vocalist), definitely enjoyed it also. Thanks a lot for that remix; even if Roilnoise doesn't take it, it's a great remix.

In regards to the intro: I'll send you a .wav that loops better.

Another question for you all. How are you all getting your tracks to Roil Noise? Are you just e-mailing them your MP3's/wavs with artwork or what? The DPI track is nearly done so I'll be sending it soon and need to know the best way of getting it to them.
