comment :: machine metal
I just read this topic about a guitar-based rock band calling themselves industrial and the debate going on there was interesting (even if it was the usual one ;-P

I suggest we adopt the name Moron gave to it: machine-metal (or machine-driven metal), meaning by this aggressive metal (still using the grammars of rock, that is, like the verse/chorus/break thing) made with electronic backup and beats.

And hell, this is not industrial ;-) which is, again, not saying it isn't good.

And hell #2 I'm a great fan of Godflesh as well, they were one of the greatest live bands ever, just to write about godflesh live makes me shiver again. Maybe we could call Big Black machine-punk? hahahahaha, goes on forever doesn't it.

Finally someone gave me a great idea: from now on the style of music RI is doing will be called Machine Electronics (not Electronica - what a stupid word....tststs) and I never ever have to argue with anyone anymore wehther or not its Industrial. Finally freedom from the bigots - yeah.

In peace at last....... At last - its done in soundclick. So now someone just has to open machine_electronics.org so that I can discuss with forum members whether our music is really machine_electronics. I am sure that some will strongly argue against it and will tell me that in no way its machine_electronics. The resaons are: RI uses the wrong synthesizers and uses/doesn't use melodic elements. Some songs are in C major. That is incompatiple with any true believer of machine_electronics and with the concept at large. There is too much/not enough drumming going on. Anyhow the drums are insufficiently compressed. RI members do not believe and do not perform satanic rhituals and like animals (urgh...). They actually have a heart and care (mega-urgh......). Again, how can these RI idiots think that with such an imbecile mood set (described as imbecile infantilism) you can produce music that should make you want to eat your cat after a satanic rhitual????? RI members do not use blood in shows, photos, etc.......are you kidding me, show the fukkers the door please! RI dares to make humorous music and they don't take themselves serious all the time. They are reorted do laugh often and hard. Again, a sign of imbecile infantilism. RI uses guitars on occasion. Electronic guitars with electronic distortion and amplification can not possibly be considered synthesizers and therefore it is not even electronic music. Guitars can also not be used experimentally. Every riff is established and thus a copy of previous ones. At the end of the day the forum will undoubtedly arrive at the conclusion that RI makes industrial music and the thread will be posted here - where obviously the discussion will come to the conclusion that this can only be considered quite idiotic and a direct result of idiots without brain discussion stuff they don't even know.

yeah, maybe I should've posted this under flame war because I was quite sure about what I'd trigger with it.

Anyway, RandomInsults shows people here are quite above the usual forum client and not only are they far from stupid but they got quite a sense of humor, too.

Just one thing: I'm not sure I was the one who tried to pigeonhole music in the first place and what makes me throw up is people using industrial as an underground alibi for their commercial shit. This will lead to another flaming thread ;-)

Hey DDN+, I know that you don't do that. Just didn't feel like another serious discussion about the subject.

I never have understood the way some people can be prepared to resort to near-violence to prove their underpants are more industrial than the next guys.
Or are bothered enough to ask "what's the most industrial meal" or shit like that.

RI, that was some funny shit ;-)

exactly my point: it's all a fat joke we all may/have to laugh at/about.

hence my posts about what's the most industrial dog and saying the Citroen Mehari is the most industrial car. My dog is the most industrial cause he's got metal orthopaedics material in his front right leg. Or maybe he's the most black metal cause he runs yelling at satan when I get back home.

but I thought machine-metal was a nice name for something that exists.

I think machine metal is a cool term, but I dont have much of a problem with "Industrial metal" or "industrial rock" or even "dance industrial"either, though I see the point of differentiating it all;
Because even though it may havse industrial elements, its not purely industrial and it with industrial in the name tag it will inevitably be referred to a just industrial without the other word.
But this has allready happened, so while I understand the point of saying "this is industrial and this is Coldwave", I cant help but snicker a bit at it.

You can explain the history and what you mean by it to someone who likes kmfdm and Kovenant, but there isnt much to due from there, if they want to sek it out or just modify their vocabulary its fine, if not thats cool too. I think keeping the music alive is more important than what you call it.

and I try to help do that in the small ways i can, being an extremely poor motherfucker and all.

*this long nonsensical rant has been brought to you by the church of latter day saints, sponsered in part by sleep deprivation.*
