comment :: Fruity Loops?
Can anyone tell me if there's a simple and concise instruction on how to use Fruity Loops?
(Because a friend of mine has Fruity Loops, but she doesn't really know how to use it properly, and I'd like to use it to mess around a bit :D). Thanks :)

Unfortunately no.......it took me a while to figure it out, I nearly dumped it. The best is to know someone who knows. The help files suck. The only other way is to go into the examples.

I suggest she throws some stuff on the step sequencer (e.g., like drums), then opens one in the piano roll and plays there a bit. Next she has to put this pattern in the playlist and play the "song". In addition there is the mixer, VST-plugins......woah, the program is great but the description is unbelievable bad. They have some general intro files on the web at FLstudios website.

Fruity Loops is pretty strait forward. If you just experiment for a while, trying out all the knobs and buttons and such you'll figure it out.

Thanks for the help :) (I didn't really expect there'd be a helpful help-file, LOL, but it was worth a shot I guess).

I really never was able to use FL, really too close to a hardware beatbox for me.
It took ages for musicians to get rid of hardware so I don't feel like using emulations... (such as FL or reason)

It is a beatbox - but also much more. You can automate every single button. For example, you can automate equalizer settings to change when the song plays. When you couple that with delay in a good way, that gives extremly cool effects. Took me a while to learn to do it though.

I like people keep dropping occasional hints like that. This one in particular sounds like gold \m/

Other favs are: panning with stereo effect in mixer, increasing distortion with Fruity Fast Distortion, Slayer II guitar effects in mixer used with a slow synthesizer. If you have a specific question on how to do something, just ask. No secrets here except for my synthesizer settings. My synthesizer settings I don't give away ;).

Synthesizer settings are like babies to me.

Except I usually do it by hitting "Randomize" and then just going from there.
