Perhaps some more recent stuff in addition:

Europe after Storm by Grunt

Also recently found a new good one: Sturmovik - Martial Industrialish (very good, new fav of me)

Look for reviews of music at http://www.auralpressure.com and here at industrial.org - many relevant reviews.

Looks like someone's been reading Filth Forge. :P JK

Seriously, though, Lechen...however you spell it might be one of the best albums ever, but Auto Da Fe is the most influential. A lot of noise artists style themselves after the very beginning of the CD. Also, Slogun got his name from the SPK song on the album. This implies that he was influenced by that album. Considering the fact that Slogun is the hottest industrial/noise act around (and the most likely to break into the mainstream...lol!) I think we can conclude that Auto Da Fe is the release SPK will be remembered for.

Auto De Fe was released in 1983 but the first 5 tracks were recorded in 1978-80, they were the first tracks SPK ever cut actually. The rest was contemporary material and not really as outstanding as the stuff on the first 2 albums.

Speaking of SPK, any of y'all seen or have their now-infamous Despair video, I've been searching all the P2Ps for it with no luck. :(

Heh, yeah... career was the only word i could think of... I'm really just interested in how the artists do what they do... Does anyone know of any other artists i could listen to? I'm kind of stuck finding other industrial artists...

Actually, now that you're motivated to make something yourself, and if you're interested in doing something that's not entirely derivative and predictable, don't turn to any existing artists for guides to making specific sounds, and don't aim for any given, easily pegged style -- i.e., "industrial", "power noise", "power electronics", or what have you. Instead, start listening closely to the ideas in your own head and imagination, trying to get a clear impression of what they're generally like -- more organic and flowing? or harder and rigid?, or loose and improvisational? or highly structured and detailed? Learn the basic characteristics and functions of the audio tools used to create and record just about any genre of music, narrow down what seems better suited to making those sounds and forms you hear internally, and what you can afford, and go from there. I'd say it's better to use the opinions on forums and from friends for cues as to what equipment to investigate, but don't turn to individual artists or specific genres for creative templates or ready made inspiration.
