I know this is trite, but I noticed that a band with some recent release database feedings was called LaVey. This irritates me.

This is obviously a reference to Anton LaVey, and to me it just seems kind of cheap, considering that he made a lot of music and is often referred to only by his last name.

If you want to use a person's name for your project, fuck it up or something. Or at the very least have some Irony or a sense of context.

I mean, it's obvious in conversation that Richard Rameriez is not releasing noise cdrs from prison.
But this LaVey thing just irks me because it kind of reeks of plagiarism.

Why not just have something like LaVey's Rotting Corpse, or Bald Aton or some shit? Fuck, I'd prefer The LaVey to just LaVey.

Anybody have an opinion on this longwinded rant?

Cool, hope yer new place is better than the old one (I obviously do not know the old one) - but anyhow, just send all the stuff to gmail and I dl it when I am back. I will be out again for a week anyhow, once I return to PR and will be in the rocky montains for a week or so. So, the break is fine. Anyhow, I needed some vacation from EVERYTHING :).

hey, this is marc from LaVey. i noticed the comment about the band name shit on here, i thought i might stop by and put my 2 cents in. yes it is named after anton lavey. no it's not plagiarism. i have mr. stanton lavey's (anton's grandson) personal permission too use the name. everyone has opinions and i respect yours, but opinions are like assholes and everyone's got one, yet alot of them stink. i'm not trying too be rude or anything, but look into something and reassure yourself about these things.

RI is alright, I don't know what set him off exactly but returning the flame doesn't help your argument at all.

Also, you get -1 for being US centric with your response. Not everyone here is a native English speaker and you certainly should not be making assumptions about the demographics. I wouldn't be surprised of RI and you have a lot more in common than you expect (age, marital situation, employment, kids, whatever).
