comment :: working on a tour booking application
Howdy. Just thought I would let folks know that I am working on a tour booking application. Fairly simple idea, basically lets you add contacts (including an email log), events and locations (i.e. cities / towns) and then sort these roughly by distance. It also includes a hook into Google maps so you can have a visual idea of where things are.

I'm using this to book my own tour so once that is complete it should have most of the kinks worked out.

It sounds nice !
It's been a while I wish I could do something similar but I'm too busy working on my projects/label/tours and bad to program ! Ah !
Once it's done, would you like to let me know as I can contribute to the data base if you want or simply give you a link to a page I will add to my site including contacts to play all over the planet [including contacts in Africa, Latin America, Asia, the Middle-East].

Best.

Hey Cdrk. The idea here is that folks would use it to book their own tours, this being just an application to make that easier to do. I will probably make it possible to share contacts between users but it will not be automatic since I expect that those putting on shows will not want their details necessarily made public (it could easily lead to bombardment of gig requests from inappropriate folks).

How I thought it would work would be that you would have an option to say "share contacts with: [username]" so that those entering data choose who can see it. So it will not be a public list of data so much as a central tool that makes the booking process easier (and is accessible from anywhere with an Internet connection).

I will probably integrate some mail functionality with template support too so that sending a 100 notes saying the same thing isn't quite so time consuming.

If you have any power electronics / harsh noise friendly contacts in the EU Cdrk, please send 'em my way as I am currently trying to set up dates for this March.

=)

Ok.
Also, give me two weeks and I'll provide you some contacts. Some of them are quite DIY - sometimes from the punk scene - but really open to other genres such as power electronics.
And feel free to remind me if I forget ;)

Non-traditional "scene" contacts are way preferred. I'd definitely much rather play to fresh faces than the previously converted.
