While in the process of deciding to buy this unit or not, I was given the chance to test it. I found that my dreams of it performing like the 101 were crushed. The only thing they have in common is the Roland name and sliders. The VA engine of this synth produces thinner sounds than usual, which is very obvious when playing a bass patch. The capabilities of this unit are nothing short of a scoring a Mario game. This could possibly be "The Postal Service" synth of choice. Very disappointing.
