After a pseudo tour down the west coast of the United States with my band at the time Martensville (long since defunct, check out griefer to see what I am up to musically these days), I decided that all the work I had gone to just to score the few dates I managed to should be shared so I started up the DIY Tour Guide (now defunct due to lack of interest but it helped a lot of folks while it was around). This fairly quickly led into other DIY related stuff, a demo submission black list (defunct), then the industrial DJ list (gloriously up and at 'em) and from there the site steadily ballooned into the full blown in depth industrial resource it is today. Since about 1997 the focus has been purely on industrial related culture with the express mission of encouraging and nurturing our end of the cultural landscape in whatever way we can.
industrial.org is a vehemenently no-profit operation (we do not accept ads and no one gets paid to take part) with all infrastructure costs paid for by myself currently (admittedly low due to my place of employment). The site is contributed to by many folks but the head administrator and person to blame is myself (firstname.lastname@example.org). The entirety of the site's backend is custom code authored by myself (if you want to hire me drop by codegrunt.com).
Editorial decisions are open for discussion but as a general rule, I pay the bills and shovel the shitwork so I have final say which means as far as news postings are concerned for example, EBM or RIAA bad . . . noise and industrial good. I only enforce editorial limits on front page news and stuff I personally review so if you want to post something that is related but which I have a problem with, you can still do so as long as it fits under our umbrella. If you feel you have gotten a raw deal in some way, email me about it.
Taking part in industrial.org is as simple as creating an account and feeding the database with fresh data (it is always hungry). Anything you submit you are granting industrial.org perpetual non-exlusive rights to use solely for the purposes of this site. If you want to take something down you can do so yourself by editing it. If you cannot do so for some reason (bad account details for example), email me about it.
Any questions, rants or bitching to email@example.com.
Nods to Royce Icon for his current excellent help with the site as well as Badger for his previous efforts.
