Aditi Tahiti - With The Antithetical Self 2009 CDR Ikuisuus with the antithetical self" consists of improvisational pieces completed between winter 2008 and spring 2009. i would sit quietly in an empty room daily and calibrate myself to all noises surrounding. from there a single tone would be introduced, which i would listen to for fifteen or twenty minutes before joining in. on some days, listening was enough. at other times, i would hear a song within the tone and mimic it, bringing it out into existence and layer it from there with additional instrumentation.

Akiyama, Tetuzi/Hideki, Kato/Nakamura, Toshimaru - Omni 2009 CD Presqu'ile
Kato Hideki (electric bass with prime number tuning, bass synthesizer). Tetuzi Akiyama (prepared electric guitar, electronics). Toshimaru Nakamura (mixer, headphones, electric guitar). Recorded live by Kato Hideki at SuperDeluxe in Tokyo on November 25, 2008. Concert organized by Noda Shigenori Callithump). Live sound engineering by Noribumi Uchida (SuperDeluxe). Mixed and mastered by Kato Hideki at Shadow World Studio in Brooklyn, NY in 2009. Time is an essential subject in music. Conventionally, musical time moves in one direction on a linear plane. Omni was co-founded by myself, Toshimaru Nakamura & Tetuzi Akiyama in 2006, to make music that develops in the depth of time. We visualized the three of us on separate trains going through tunnels, rather than riding together on a linear time-table. Prior to the performance, each of us came up with individual sequences, without telling the others what we would do. The result was many layers of moments that were transfixed in the recording, like a photograph taken with a long exposure."(Kato Hideki)"

Anaphoria (Kraig Grady) - Footpaths And Trade Routes 2009 LP Ini.itu
Kraig Grady is a composer and a sound artist. He has been described by David Toop as an Ethnographic Surrealist. Born in California in 1952 . this ini.itu LP presents 2 solo compositions inspired by the traditions of Anaphoria and one meta-track assembled from multiple ensemble takes. With tunes strongly reminiscent of gamelan instruments, the album unfurl elegant and refined tracks of hypnotic and nocturnal beauty, rich with soothing and gloomy overtones. This album fills the room with simultaneously austere, restrained and peacefully complex reverberations, suspending the sense of time.

Anika - A:05-07 2008 LP No Label
"Greek solo electronicist Anika arrives from Athens with an LP called A:05-07 (NO LABEL) which he released last year; it's a decent collection of droney, menacing science-fiction music, quite heavy on the effects and the filters which often-times render every analogue note into gobbets of glistening glorp. As well as meandering in his Chrome-inspired keyboard mindscapes, he likes to deploy his editing tools in odd ways -- cutting up and rearranging his own material, resulting sometimes in very clipped and abrupt endings for some pieces, while others exist as mere sketches or short fragments. Sometimes I wish certain tracks could be given more room, as they seem to fade out just at the moment when they're getting interesting, but in principle I agree that the editing scissors can be a musician's best friend, and I wish more artistes could emulate Anika's discipline. The artworks, somewhat like the music, are packed with distorted and cut-up information, using collaged close-ups of photographs and texts to create alienating and futuristic effects." (The sound protector) LP // 2 inlets // limited to 300 copies.

Aosuke/Uton - Split 2009 TAPE Ikuisuus
Aosuke's Pancaked" was recorded live at The Avantgarde Festival, 2007 in Schiphorst, Germany resembling Aosuke's 2 piece pagodas peak with Ulf Schütte on tapes and tech and Tobert Knopp on guitar + electronics. It displays Aosuke's most sincere attempt at sounding like freshly baked cookies, occuring pregnant women, snoring dogs, a swine and a wireless full sleeve mic presentation from Faust and avant-festivals c.e.o. Jean Hervé. Uton's "Outer Space Inner Aquarium" is a psychedelic trip in sound to the abyssian wonders. Teleportal holes and dive to the other dimensions of time and focus in the free space with surreal and dreamy odd creatures. Like a soundtrack of some mysterious low-budget sci-fi movie from 23rd century "new cinema"."

Avarus - IV 2009 LP Ikuisuus
Avarus IV starts where the Rasvaaja LP ended. The IV, too, consists of Tomas Regan's careful high-quality recordings. On the IV Avarus makes and even longer dive in the warm and clear pond, into which the water is poured from both kraut and space rock, and from micro music and slapstick

Bayle, François - Camera Obscura - Espaces Inhabitables 2000 CD Magison
Volume 14 in INA GRM's continuing documentation of Francois Bayle's complete works. Featuring 2 long pieces: Camera Oscura" (1976) & "Espaces Inhabitables" (1967). "Camera Oscura" is a literal 39 minute-minute tour de force of Bayle's stereophonic fabric, the perfect "ping", so to speak: "At first a rhythmic maze, mirrors-form that look more-or-less alike, that are assembled, woven, fuged. Then we find ourselves thrown into windings and crystallised sonorities, in which the lines would be lost if they were not supported by low layers, from plateau to plateau, seemingly leading to a muter and muter deep, to the bottom of an abyss that heat and light would reach (maybe), in extremis. But for the ear, those constructions in sequence, processes, stretching, extensions, transpositions, thickenings, harmonisation, spatialisation, reverberations and dissipation are only forms and impressions left on the memory, in view of a joy of a multidimensional, fulfilled hearing.""

Brothers Of The Occult Sisterhood - Grass Openings 2009 CD Ikuisuus
After numerous CDs, CDRs, cassettes and LPs, Brothers of the Occult Sisterhood have established themselves as one of the many lights in modern improvised outsider music. Their latest offering, 'Grass Openings' sees them continue down this winding path of intoxicated trance derangement. Drawing heavily from psychedelic, jazz and weirdo traditions to create a unique form of mutant sound.

Brötzmann, Peter/Zerang, Michael - Live In Beirut 2006 CD Al Maslakh
In July 2005, the Irtijal festival proposed two concerts(*) of the Brötzmann / Zerang duo in Beirut. This first appearance of German Free Jazz and Improv legend Peter Brötzmann on the middle-eastern/arabic underground scene definitely left a mark on both the players and the audience. Brötzmann's raw energy found in Beirut naturally" trained ears to react to his music. The intensity of his playing surprised at first an audience new to this kind of music, then drowned everybody in its tornado. Zerang's performance is not a usual drummer's one. Not even in Brötzmann's standards. Rarely in the role of the accompanying rythmic partner, he is the perfect match to engage a dialog with the sax player. Passing from complex and intense rhythms to a minimalist/reductionist solo, Zerang ensorcelled the crowd, especially when he played hard-core rhythms and extended techniques on the lebanese national percussion instrument, the darbuka (or debakeh)."

Capparos, Olivier/Marchetti, Lionel - Equus 2009 CD Pogus
Equus is a collaborative work of musique concrète recorded in 2001-02 on a commission from the INA GRM. electro-acoustic music.

Cardinal - S.T. 2009 CD Impressus
(...) Cardinal is the Cosottini's trumpet and Melani's percussion, the piano of Miano, the Pisani bassoon, divergent, in separate corners and approaching each other. They reference unusual maps, graphic scores that suggest ways they might find one another. Maps can be used to find a way to a destination; they can also be used to find a way away. A direct route is the shortest distance. A direct result has no intervening factors. The four directors of Cardinal move with a marked determinism, toward and ever-shifting middle. (Kurt Gottschalk)

Chant, Tom/Sehnaoui, Sharif - Cloister 2006 CD Al Maslakh
This is a soprano sax/acoustic guitar session recorded at Sehnaoui's apartment in Paris, which is near an old cloister. The record comprises three long improvisations whose grammar derives from an obstinate research for uncharted areas of intelligent needlework, thus fertilizing the ground for new contiguities between the percussive resonance of instruments. The results achieved by this duo through the application of extended techniques bring the whole thing to shine, and quite often. Chant's saxophone creates its illusoriness through reversible hoarseness and chirping tremolos, yet at the same time his playing is radioscopic, bringing out all the multiphonic sensibility at the right moments while eradicating any immunity from its almost probabilistic aesthetic. Sehnaoui's technical clothing exploits every particle of his guitar; he fills gaps with wooden friction, string detuning and relaxed responsiveness. Gentle bumps and muffled roars respond to Chant's calls without hurry, and listening to the Lebanese artist hit the strings with random jauntiness in the third section, with the saxophonist bouncing around those semi-chords like an excited peeping bird, adds a pinch of salt to an already appetizing recipe. (Massimo Ricci | Touching Extreme)

Christian/Milton/Prevost/Saade - A Church Is Only Sacred To Believers 2009 CD Al Maslakh nicholas christian | electric bass, matt milton | violin, eddie prevost | percussion, bechir saade | bass clarinet.

Coltrane, John - A Day In The Life Of John Coltrane 2009 2LP Doxy
Recorded July 11, 1958 at Rudy Van Gelder's Studio in Hackensack, New Jersey, this album is aptly named A Day in the Life of John Coltrane" because the entire contents of this double album were recorded in a single day. Originally available only on three separate LPs, this quintet session (featuring a hard-hitting Chambers-Cobb-Garland rhythm section) captures Coltrane at the top of his game, although he plays no original material."

Dokaka - Human Interface 2009 CD Dual Plover
Dokaka, is a one manned voice, no effect, no auto-tune, no edit, no sampling, DIY human synthesizer. Dokaka has recorded his first album of original material 'HUMAN INTERFACE' which is now available for the first time outside of Japan courtesy of cultural maverick imprint dualpLOVER. Eyes Like Saucers - Parmalee, Tribute To A Dog 2009 CD Ikuisuus
At the heart of Eyes Like Saucers' sound is Jeffrey K's 'slightly modified' Indian pedal harmonium, whatever the modifications and however slight, that instrument's wheezing, breathing rhythms define this collection of contemplative space folk drones.

Furt - Sense 2009 CD Psi
RICHARD BARRETT and PAUL OBERMAYER (electronics) perform a semi-composed extended suite, plus an improvised tribute to Stockhausen. (2008/9). 'Too often, critics make an automatic separation between emotion" and "intellect", a framework which will get one nowhere with Furt. Instead, their music shows graphically how fused, how inseparable are the two. As Richard Barrett puts it: "The music is motivated by emotional and sensual considerations as much as by anything else. Without wishing to sound too pretentious I think it's concerned with finding and exploring (musical) states of consciousness to which the word "ecstasy" might well be completely appropriate (at least in an etymological sense).' From the notes by David Grundy."

Gilbert, Bruce - Oblivio Agitatum 2009 CD Editions Mego
Edition Mego is pleased to announce the release of a new album by Bruce Gilbert, whose career stretches back to late 1960's British avant garde art & music scenes, and has since played an important and influential role with his involvement in various rock based formations, work for choreographic projects and art installations. Oblivio agitatum" is Gilbert's first album since "Ordier" (realised 1996 and released in 2004), essentialy making his first album of the 21st century. A starting and mesmerizing work wich recalls some of his mid 1980's work such as "This Way" and "Shivering Man". An ever shifting set of agitated and obscure tones creating a sense of confusion while still being highly structured and concentrated. A stenning return."

Government Alpha - Resolution Of Remembrance 1992-1999 2009 4CDBox-Set Pica Disk
Yasutoshi Yoshida's Government Alpha project started in 1992 and quickly became one of the leading names in the third generation of Japanese noise music. Government Alpha was characterized by its ferociously intense signature sound. Noise fans often speak of a feeling of pure energy" felt when listening to noise music. Few artists consistently embodies this better than Government Alpha. Audiences in the West first started to take notice when Government Alpha appeared on the Susan Lawly "Extreme Music from Japan" compilation and vinyl releases on Segerhuva and Vinyl Communications. But at the same time Yasutoshi recorded a series of works released on the cassette format. These were (as often is the case with noise tapes) released in very limited editions. The "Resolution Of Remembrance 1992-1999" box-set is a selection of 62 tracks from these obscure releases in the years 1992 to 1999, released by labels like Harbinger Sound, Mother Savage Noise Productions, Hospital Productions, Utsu Tapes, American Tapes and of course Yoshida's own Xerxes imprint. The first CD also includes previously unreleased tracks from 1992/93."

(2006-8). Grutronic are a collective of free improvisers - all have a past/present as acoustic ensemble players. In Grutronic they are re-incarnated as electronic musicians, extending technique through the development of personalised systems of sound production and control. Current intuitive and performance-oriented technologies put tools and techniques, once the preserve of the electronic music studio, into the hands of the players. Grutronic take on these new challenges with glee, aiming to surprise and delight the listener and themselves with unheard forms and sound-relationships, fixed during the act of performance.

Higashi, Yôko/Marchetti, Lionel - Okura 73°N-42°E 2009 CD Musica Genera
The album contains three compositions of musique concrète, one by Marchetti, one by Higashi and a collaborative work by both artists. Each of the tracks is an elaborate sound construction of individual characteristics and unique sound aura. "Pétrole 73" is the artistic fruit of Marchetti's stay at the "Stubnitz" trawler, the one of a kind ship rebuilt as a floating cultural centre. Analogue drones, radio voices and mechanical sounds of working hull create the atmosphere that contrasts with next composition. "Okura" was realised by Higashi basing on the sound material gathered in Mozambique. Field recordings of African nature and surprising electronic interventions interweave with fragments of ethnic music, leading the listener towards the final, collaborative track. "Pétrole 42" captivates with it's sonic depth and uncanny, ethereal aura created by delicate synthesiser passages, distant, unearthly voices, chants, breaths, punctuated with disturbing, aggressive concrète sounds.

Hobo Duo - Across Great Distances 2009 CDR Ikuisuus
The spirit of Derek Bailey with Han Bennink sending each other their two "Post Improvisation" duos on old tapes by mail, The spririt of the great & forgotten Harry Partch with all his custom-made instruments sounding so strange & so well to my ears, especially the first time, The spirit of the Blues, not the Delta one, a French one & an Indian one maybe, The spirit of some writers, Conrad, Kerouac, Camus, Toole, Volodine, Ogawa, etc.

Holland, Dave Quintet - Vortex 2009 DVD View
This concert gem stars the Dave Holland Quintet at the peak of their musical maturity: merging passion and logic, spontaneity and group interplay with sparkling clarity. Each musician works as a cog in the delightful engine of swing, relating his phasing to the supple beats laid down by Holland and Smith. Without a piano, without a "standards" song repertoire, and with poise and effortless concentration, the Quintet creates palpable musical shapes using innovative themes and variations. For all its unique inventiveness, they project an utter melodic mellowness on their tunes: Vortex," "Homecoming" and "Wiguts Waits for Weights.""

Jackie O Motherfucker - Ballads Of The Revolution 2009 LP Fire
"BALLADS OF THE REVOLUTION is the bands 10th studio record, and the culmination of 15 years spent defining their unique take on american music. The record begins with an arrangement of a traditional ballad, -nightingale features greenwoods vocals and guitar with the lush, open accompaniment of bob jones double bass and the pedal steel guitar of lewi longmire. Dark falcon is an improvisation and re-mix of a song written and recorded by the LUCKY DRAGONS. Side two begins with a brand new song, written and sung by greenwood and owens, -the corner begins with the pulsing bass of a roland keyboard, accompanied by turntable manipulations and the sparse, sting of owens guitar, its dark minimalism, a new classic moment for the band. The albums cover features watercolor paintings by tom greenwood, beautifully art directed by james nicholls."

Kallabris - Music For Very Simple Objects 2009 10"LP Substantia Innominata
Maybe the most mysterious & thought-provoking german experimental project with recordings derived from field recordings so bizarre it's difficult to find any words for it! This work features very short sequences of concrete sounds, arranged in a structural and temporal way that the known reality" is placed in a new frame & context, thus making it possible that the world behind may become "visible" through our acoustic senses. What is usually familiar is suspended in order to make new experiences. The used acoustic elements have been configured in a certain causal formation which is not consciously perceivable within the phenomenal order. The phenomenon hides the principle & substance of the sound-pieces. Great full colour artwork by Mal Hoeschen (Multer, Genesungswerk)."

Marhaug, Lasse/Ratkje, Maja S.K. - Music For Gardening 2009 CD Pica Disk

Mawja - Studio One 2007 CD Al Maslakh
Recorded in 2005 and released by the Lebanese label Al Maslakh, which translates as The Slaughterhouse, Studio One documents two compatible performances at Pancake Alley, New York and Candlestick Maker in Chicago by Michael Bullock (contrabass and feedback), Mazen Kerbaj (trumpet) and Vic Rawlings (cello and surface electronics). Theirs is a quiet and occasionally tentative improvised music, allowing drones to establish an atmosphere before the players muddy it, in the process finding new directions and the means to explore them. None of the acoustic instruments sound as you would expect them to but that's par for the course nowadays. Kerbaj, in particular, can manufacture a wide range of abrasive and percussive sounds from the mutes and resonators he introduce to the bell of his trumpet, all of which he uses sparingly and with discretion. The lengthy S 1.4" is introduced, rather unnecessarily, as a quiet piece - nearly all of the six tracks are quiet pieces - and is ghostly resonances billow and distort perception like mist on moorland. The track grinds almost to a halt around the 12 minute mark, and there's a flailing moment, which is nonetheless interesting to hear, before the players manage to re-establish a rapport and carry the music forward. Warts and all, this is a fine example of improvised music in the new millennium, and a good indicator that Improv still has something valuable to offer, something that no other music can provide." (Brian Marley | The Wire)

Methadrone - Better Living (Through Chemistry) 2009 CD Consouling Sounds
Methadrone has come a long way since its conception as a 2-bassed sludge/drone monolith. Craig Pillard (who has been part of Evoken, Incantation, e.a.) gradually expanded his sound through experiment with acoustic guitars and other vocal collaborations. Better Living (Through Chemistry) is pushing beyond the boundaries of traditional doom music, resulting in well balanced atmospheric pieces of music which make this third full album the apogee of Methadrone's oeuvre this far.

Midorikawa, Keiki - Complete Grüne Revolution 2009 2CD Doubtmusic
Keiki Midorikaw (cello, bass), Masahiko Togashi (percussion, drums), Masayuki Takayanagi (guitar) et Masahiko Sato (piano). Recorded on January 16, 1976 at Nichi-futsu kaikan, Tokyo. The original LP of this work has duo with Takayanagi on A side and duo with Sato on B side. But in the concert, Midorikawa played duo with Togashi about 40 minutes, afterward he played duo with Takayanagi and with Sato both about 20 minutes actually. It didn't include Togashi duo on the original LP. This time doubtmusic found a tape of Midorikawa - Togashi duo, 2CD set convey all performance that day as a complete version. The tapes which are used on those CDs are different from the original master tape, and we re-mastered them, so the quality is higher than the original LP. Midorikawa's free improvisation that playing duo with each Togashi, Takayanagi, Sato is inventive and in consequence, each music is very beautiful. Those music are prime free-jazz that quietness and intensity seem like spindrift.

Minami, Hiroaki - Electronic Symphony No.1 2009 CD Edition Omega Point
This unknown composer (not only for foreign fans, but also for domestic) is a pioneer of synthesizer music in Japan. However he was a professor of the top of academy of art university in Japan 'Tokyo Geidai', actually he had a class of electronic music in there firstly. Also he built a private studio for selfmade synthesizer in his home in 1976. This "Electronic Symphony No.1" is the earliest composition of the series. The spacy and very noisy sounds of analog synthesizer are like Roland Kayn's 60's concrete works.

Mingus, Charles - The Complete Sessions Of "The Clown" 2009 LP Doxy
One of the most controversial and difficult musicians in jazz, Charles Mingus was also one of the most prolific, and perhaps the greatest bass player jazz has ever known. Released shortly after his groundbreaking Pithecanthropus Erectus, which marked the dawning of Mingus' era as a major player in jazz, The Clown took it to the next level and as a result captured some of the finest music Mingus ever made. Universally lauded as one of Mingus' best recordings, we are proud to offer the integral version of this seminal work. Listeners can now enjoy the complete sessions for the album, recorded on Feb 13 and March 12, 1957. Uniquely for a jazz player of this period, this album is comprised entirely of Mingus-penned tracks, including the explosive Haitian Fight Song" and his tribute to Charlie Parker "Reincarnation of a Lovebird", while the title track features a spoken word piece by Jean Shepherd."

Mondrian Oak - Through Early Seed 2009 CD Consouling Sounds
Mondrian Oak conceived in autumn 2007, and slowely paved the path to launch their debut album Through Early Seed. These Italians shared the stage with a lot of great bands (Zippo, Gerda, Last Minute To Jaffna, Viscera/// e.a.), which most certainly helped them to shape their own voice within the genre: they have crafted a sound which is evocative and psychedelic merely with the classic rock instruments, devoid of excess.

Moore, R. Stevie - Meet The R.Stevie Moore - An Introduction To The Godfather Of Home Recording 2009 2LP Get Back
R. Stevie Moore, son of Elvis' bass player, has spent the last 40 years fiddling around in his home studio, and simultaneously creating a huge body of work that has covered everything from psych-pop, to hip hop, to spoken word, to found sound, making him one of the great unsung heroes of underground music. This release, compiled with Stevie's help, is a doorway into one of his most accessible and prolific periods (1974-1986).

Moore, Thurston - Psychic Hearts 2006 2LP Goofin
Rerelease of the LP from 1995. Physic Hearts is a solo effort with Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth member) drumming.

Mt. - Your Children How To Think, Not What To Think 2009 CDEP Consouling Sounds
It has been a while since we heard new tunes by the band branded by The Silent Ballet as "one of the shining new lights of the UK post-rock scene". The EP contains 4 brand new tracks that push beyond 2006 critically acclaimed Lethologica. During the years of silence the band progressed as songwriters, which is reflected in every track on the Teach Children How To Think, Not What To Think EP. Intelligently layered structures entwined with amazingly crafted melodies leave no room for interpretation: Mt. are back and determined to permanently claim a place in the spotlights.

N(5) - Bergen: Skizzen + Notizen 2009 LP Consouling Sounds
On this LP Hellmut Neidhardt ([multer]) works together with Mirko Uhlig, Segment and Fear Falls Burning. Ranging from calm and silent atmospheres to pulsating rhythms and dark, upbuilding soundscapes, finally closing with deep, warm space. The only source used is the original material of the 'Bergen' 2LP, except the additional guitar work of Dirk Serries/FFB.

Oki, Itaru - Phantom Note 2009 CD Doubtmusic
We are very glad to inform that a long time out of printed OFF BEAT label LP is reprinted on CD. Itaru Oki visited Paris, France in the 70s and when he came back to Japan temporarily in '75, he organized a elite free jazz troop and recorded in studio. Phantom Note" is his 3rd album, more straight, heavier and flamed out free jazz than experimental music part of his 1st "Satsujin Kyoshitsu (Murder Class)" or 2nd "Shirasagi (Egret)". Especially, the tune called 'Kodai Tenmondai (Ancient Observatory)' which Gozo Yoshimasu read his poet has a vigorous voice and playing, and it will move your heart surely. The masterpiece on '75 in Japan."

Orb, The - Baghdad Batteries: Orbsessions #3 2009 CD Malicious Damage
the brand new album from the orb featuring dr paterson & prof fehlmann. There's a very special atmosphere to this album: two men bouncing ideas and exploring in classic Orb style to make a classic Orb album, hitting the magic place Alex always strives for, but this time with a lustful vengeance tempered with new gentleness and a movie in their heads.

Radigue, Eliane - Vice Versa, Etc ... 2009 2CD Important
1970 was an important year in Eliane Radigue's musical life since it was the year just before she acquired her ARP 2500 synthesizer. Vice-Versa, etc... was conceived as a sound installation setting similar to S=a=b=a+b. A single magnetic tape can be played at any speed, a stereo tape of which allows three playings: left channel alone, right channel alone, left and right channels together. These different channels can be overlapped/crossed over as much as possible, at any speed. Thus the piece reveals itself in its whole dimension, its infinite grace. In its content, the piece is the most minimal that Eliane Radigue has ever composed. Feedback is horizontally sustained, time is suspended, vibrating with organic and subtle pulsations. The fastest playthrough, in just 2'42, weaves a graceful continuum of uncanny depth, somewhere between the sonority of feedback and a glass harmonica. Played slowly, at 13'41", it takes us into an universe of low frequency vibrations felt as much by the guts, the ribcage and the whole body as by the eardrum: the signature sound of Eliane Radigue. Between these two extremes, many delicate shadings/variations appear simply through speed modulation."

Radigue, Eliane - Triptych 2009 CD Important
Includes liner notes & archival photographs. On the suggestion of Robert Ashley, Douglas Dunn commissioned this piece from Eliane Radigue for choreography. Only the first part of Triptych was staged at the premiere at the Dancehall-Theatre of Nancy on February 27 1978. Recorded in the composer's studio in Paris. After the premiere of Adnos I in San Francisco in 1974, a group of French students introduced Eliane Radigue to Tibetan Buddhism. When she returned to Paris, she began to explore this spirituality in depth, which slowed her musical production up until 1978. Triptych marks her return to composition, and draws its inspiration from the spirit of the fundamental elements, water, air, fire, earth... Eliane Radigue likes to add that this has often been useful to her in her moments of research and transitions. This three-part composition, with its great humility and contemplative simplicity, heralded a new period of work and was the first in a series of masterpieces inspired by Tibetan Buddhism: Adnos II (1980), Adnos III (1981), Songs of Milarepa (1983) - with the voices of Lama Kunga Rinpoche and Robert Ashley -, "Jetsun Mila" (1986), as well as the Trilogy of Death: Kyema (1988), Kailasha (1991) and Koume (1993). Archival images included in the accompanying booklet."

Rives, Stéphane - Much Remains To Be Heard 2008 CD Al Maslakh
A technically extraordinary disc on the excellent Lebanese based Al Maslakh label. Like Seymour Wright, Stéphane Rives's solo saxophone experiments can make John Butcher sound like Lester Young. The high-pitched, sustained, one-hour track on Much Remains To Be Heard is right at the upper threshold of hearing [...] (Derek Walmsley | The Mire (The Wire magazine's Blog))

Rutherford, Paul - Tetralogy (1978-1982) 2009 2CD Emanem
A 2-CD set containing four very different settings all featuring Paul Rutherford (trombone & euphonium): two festival solos - one with electronics and the other without; a festival brass quartet with George Lewis (trombone), Martin Mayes (french horn) & Melvyn Poore (tuba); and a studio trio with Paul Rogers (double bass) & Nigel Morris (drum set). Satoh, Somei - Hymn For The Sun (Works Of Somei Satoh) 2009 CD Alm
This CD is markable reissue of very rare first LP of Satoh. ALM Records issued some important LPs of Satoh's tape works in 70's - early 80's especially "Mandala"(1982) and "Emerald Tablet"(1981). Only "Mandala" is able to listen on CD now, but great work "Emerald Tablet" and "Hymn For The Sun" didn't reissue yet. You will re-discover Satoh's deep and divine world in this dense piano sound. Liner note is written by Yori-aki Matsudaira (Japanese and English). Contents: "Litania" (1973) - for piano with delay system. "Mirror" (1975) - for piano solo. "Hymn For The Sun" (1973) - for piano with delay system. Somei Satoh was born in 1947 in Sendai (northern Honshu), Japan.

Sehnaoui, Christine/Waisvisz, Michel - Shortwave 2007 CD Al Maslakh
Christine Sehnaoui and Michel Waiswisz, met in Sweden in September 2006 when they performed a trio with percussionist Sven-Åke Johansson (this music can be heard on the Beirut-Ystad / Olof Bright CD16/17). They kept on working together until the present days whenever that was possible. The highlight of their collaboration could be several full days of recording at the famous GRM studios in Paris at 2 different periods during the year 2007. Selecting the music that you will hear on this CD has surely been the hardest part of the entire process. There was so much interesting and different material available that narrowing them down to an hour seemed an impossible task. There have been as much as 6 different versions of the recording, many of them with no single track in common, and all of them seemed perfect in the moment. The final decision was made after the artists gave the label this responsibility. We hope to have made the most out of the material at hand.

Stellari String Quartet - Gocce Stellari 2009 CD Emanem
Philipp Wachsmann (violin), Charlotte Hug (viola), Marcio Mattos (cello), John Edwards (double bass). If there were stars in the world of free improvisation, then the members of this quartet would surely be among them - four very distinctive and fluent musicians, who also have the talent to work together to produce a fifth distinctive and fluent entity, namely an improvising string quartet. The whole of their performance at the 2007 Uncool Festival in Switzerland is included, as well as some studio recordings made near London the previous year. These unamplified performances prove that here is still plenty of life in the violin family.

Whetham, Simon - D/R 2009 CDR 1000füssler
October 2008, I join a group of UK based performance artists in Tallinn, Estonia, to produce new collaborative works as guests of Non Grata. The project, Co-LAB'08, is organised and run by Orion Maxted and protopPLAY. The theme of the project is ,Deconstruction/Reconstruction', appropriate as this reflects my composing using field recordings. The first performances are solo, showcasing existing work.

XBXRX - Wars 2007 LP Polyvinyl
The band has continued to progress and with their latest album, Wars, the group continues to expand their musical horizons, incorporating a wider palette of textures, rhythm and structure as well as gaining a newfound clarity in the vocals. Never wishing to repeat themselves, the band has made a conscious effort to move beyond the non-stop blastbeat/screaming assault of previous releases (achieving its noisy pinnacle on the 2003 Narnack 7), while retaining the vigorous exhilaration that people expect from them. Includes code for a free digital download of all songs in MP3 format."

Young Marble Giants - Live At The Hurrah 2009 LP Get Back
Although the Young Marble Giants, a trio formed in Cardiff, Wales in 1979, are forever emblazoned on the mind and hearts of every post-punk rocker since their classic debut "Colossal Youth" was released on Rough Trade in 1980, they sadly were only around long enough to record that one seminal album. This full length live LP is therefore, a welcome event for all YMG fans around the globe. Recorded at NYC's Hurrah Club during their one legendary U.S. Tour in 1980, it captures that moment in time when the YMG ruled the independent charts. Their only full-length live recording is now available for the first time ever on vinyl.
