Neurosis is one of the great bands of the last 10 years. They managed to musically progress, picking up momentum with each new releases. Live they are intense and overall they have never faltered. That is except for this release. Tribes of Neurot is a goofy side project with some other 'tribal' and 'heavey' types ending up sounding like a ridiculous black metal / male affirmation drumming party. If I wanted to listen to hairy people playing bongos I'd buy some patchouli and hang downtown asking for change. I guess this is supposed to be pagan and ritualistic but all it comes off as is a goofy southern California flake out. Stick with the actual Neurosis releases or if you are into tribal, properly executed material from Crash Worship. Definite stinker.
